2.It is a prestigious and highly-respected safety diploma, currently held by over 10,000 OSH professionals.

3.  Holders of the NEBOSH National Diploma may use the letters “DipNEBOSH” after their name and are invited to attend the annual NEBOSH Graduation Ceremony.

4.  The NEBOSH Diploma also meets the academic requirements for Graduate Membership of IOSH. Chartered Safety Practitioner (CMIOSH) status can then be attained following Initial Professional Development (IPD).

5.  The Diploma is additionally accepted by the IIRSM (International Institute of Risk and Safety Management) as meeting academic requirements for full membership (MIIRSM).

6.  It also provides a sound basis for progression as a number of universities offer MSc programmes that accept the NEBOSH Diploma as a full or partial requirement.

7.  The NEBOSH Diploma syllabus covers health and safety management, hazardous agents and work equipment safety, and builds on the foundation knowledge gained in the NEBOSH Certificate course (which is highly recommended as a prior qualification).

10.  Professionals who hold the NEBOSH Diploma are much sought after by organisations looking for expert advisers in this complex and fast changing profession.

11.  There are alternative routes to CMIOSH status but arguably the Diploma remains the most highly regarded and transferable across job role and sector.

13.  Management of health and safety in the workplace is not only a legal obligation and a moral imperative, it also makes good business sense. Qualified health and safety professionals are an asset to their organisations, reducing costs by preventing accidents and ill health of employees, without incurring unnecessary expense by over-reacting to trivial risks.

14.  Courses leading to the NEBOSH National Diploma can be taken in a variety of formats and at a pace to fit around the needs of the business. The unitised structure of the qualification recognises success as the student progresses. Its practical approach promotes the application of the knowledge acquired on the course to problem solving in the student’s own workplace.
