National Men’s Health Week 2013 is running from the 10th-16th of June. The purpose of Men’s Health Week is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

Throughout the week we will be tweeting facts about men’s health and sharing useful resources. Follow the hashtag #MHW13 to keep up to date on all the posts about Men’s Health Week or follow our Twitter profile @santia_ltd.

Did you know that on average, men go to their GP half as often as women?

Men's Health Week

No matter which sex you are, it is important to be aware of changes to your health and make sure you go to see your GP immediately if you notice something that’s unusual.

We have compiled a page of useful resources relating to men’s health which will continue to grow as Men’s Health Week continues.

This page includes:

A real life story from football manager Sam ‘Big Sam’ Allardyce. He talks about his heart operation, and how regular visits to his GP may have saved his life.

Links to an alcohol unit calculator which enables you to measure your alcohol intake.

Men’s health – As an employer what can you do?

Mind research has found that 37% of men are feeling worried or low with the top three concerns being job security, work and money. By addressing these issues your employees are far less likely to have sick days due to stress and depression.

How Santia can help

This year Santia have introduced Choices for Wellbeing; a campaign to help employers communicate the importance and benefits of staff looking after their own health and wellbeing. The Choices for Wellbeing calendar focuses on a different topic each month and June covers men’s health. Santia will provide a pack of information on each topic which includes fact sheets and posters to help you inform your staff.
